Supervising criminalists, deputies, and forensic identification
specialists who conducted crime scene investigations, latent print
investigations, latent print comparisons, automated fingerprint
searches, and chemical processing of evidence for the development of
fingerprint evidence.
December 1982 - June 1997: Deputy Sheriff (Latent Print Deputy),
Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Scientific Services Bureau
(Identification and Crime Scene Investigation Section). Duties included:
Conducting more than 2000 latent print investigations of property crimes.
Photographing, collecting evidence, or conducting latent print
investigations in approximately 500 homicide and officer involved
shooting cases.
Qualifying as an expert in latent print comparisons in 1983 and
testifying in excess of 200 times. Testimonies have included
presentations in Municipal, Superior, and Federal courts within Los
Angeles County, before the Los Angeles County Grand Jury, Kern County
Superior Court, and St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.
Authoring the first comprehensive training manual for the latent print personnel
for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and
providing training for new section personnel from 1991 to 2001.
June 1976 - December 1982: Deputy Sheriff, Los Angeles Sheriff’s
Department, Lakewood Station Patrol. Duties included:
The initial investigation and reporting of crimes and traffic
accidents occurring within assigned patrol areas. The apprehending and
arresting of suspects.
January 1974 - June 1976: Deputy Sheriff, Los Angeles Sheriff’s
Department, Court Services Division, Civic Center Security Unit.
July 1972 - January 1974: Deputy Sheriff, Los Angeles Sheriff’s
Department, Custody Division.
December 1971 - July 1972: Deputy Sheriff, Los Angeles Sheriff’s
Department, Pre-academy and Training Academy.
